Paradox on the Actor

A new production Paradox on the Actor started on June 13. The play is based on Diderot’s treatise. It has been directed by V. Terel’a. Maria plays the role of Margo.

Paradox on the Actor an essay of famous French enlightener Diderot is still retains its importance due to the original and profound ideas of the author. He was against the theory that actor needs to evoke the interior passion. The Diderot’s actor should study the human’s nature and play more using his reason and intellect following some ideal guided by his imagination and memory. This actor’s performance is always perfect, because he has everything in order properly studied, measured and calculated. Quoting Diderot: "The extravagant creature who loses his self-control has no hold on us; this is gained by the man who is self-controlled".
